Province of Groningen
From the heart of Groningen, more than 1,000 employees work every day to make the province a better place. A province where it’s pleasant to live and work. Where people feel safe. Where there’s plenty to see and experience. Where sustainability and the economy go hand in hand, with ample space for nature. This is what we work toward—sometimes alone, but often together with other governments, social organizations, and companies. The province offers a lot of room for personal initiative and taking individual responsibility. Together with your colleagues, you’ll work on a variety of assignments in a complex and challenging environment. No two days at the province are the same!
Every year, a new trainee program is launched by a group of governmental bodies. As a trainee, you’ll work in three different positions. The program lasts two years, with a job rotation every eight months. You’ll rotate between Groningen municipalities, the Province of Groningen, and possibly other public organizations. In March 2024, 14 enthusiastic trainees began the two-year program “The Future of Groningen!” A new program will start in September 2025.
