Henk Nijboer

Henk Nijboer is an economist and a former politician with over 11 years of experience residing in the Dutch house of representatives (Tweede Kamer) and 4 years residing in the provincial council. In the Dutch house of representatives Henk Nijboer stood as expert spokesperson in the field of finance and public housing.

After finishing his degree in Economics at the University of Groningen with cum laude, he worked on research in behavioral economics and social security at the university of Leiden through. Following this, he worked at the ministry of Finance as policy maker for four years. He entered the Dutch house of representatives after working at the ministry of Finance. At the moment, he is championing the social agenda for the province of Groningen and North-Drenthe as quartermaster. Nij Begun, as this governmental program is called, will get 100 million euro’s in funding for the upcoming 30 years. With this program Henk Nijboer would like to tackle poverty, mental issues and bad health in the designated provinces. On top of that the preservation of cultural amenities is seen as a priority. In his talk Henk Nijboer will talk about the challenges and opportunities he faced in his interesting career on the top of Dutch politics.
